Norway’s fjords voted world’s best travel destination

02/11/2009 // The fjords of Norway have once again been crowned the world’s top travel destination in the annual survey of National Geographic Travelers panellists.

National Geographic asked 437 independent experts to rate 133 beautiful and well-preserved places around the world. The panellists’ expertise covers fields such as preservation of cultural landmarks, sustainable tourism, travel literature and archaeology.

On 21 October, National Geographic published its ranking of the world’s iconic travel destinations. This is the sixth consecutive year the magazine, working with the Center for Sustainable Destinations, has compiled such a list. It is the second time that the Norwegian fjords have taken top honours.
