Norwegian Project to Re-Qualify Surplus Army Officers Opened

The Macedonian Defense Ministry and Norwegian Embassy signed a contract for the LEPEZA (spectre) project. The aim of the project is to find alternative careers for surplus officers.

10/02/2006 :: The Macedonian Defense Ministry and Norwegian Embassy signed a contract for the LEPEZA (spectre) project. The aim of the project is to find alternative careers for surplus officers. The first step of the project, which also includes re-education and possibilities to apply for micro-credit, is to open a "Transition Center" in Skopje. The centre will train staff that will work with helping surplus personell finding civilian careers. The Government of Norway has donated 200.000 EUR for equipment. Britain, Sweden and Denmark have also committed themselves to donate financial aid. The LEPEZA project will have capacity to admit 700 people annually. Apart from Skopje, the Defense Ministry plans to open another two regional centers in Stip and Kicevo. The project will provide the participants with skills and knowledge that would make them more competitive on the labor market.
