Bill Gates in Oslo: Norway has become our best partner

20/05/2009 :: Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg will be hosting the High-Level Conference on Climate Change and Technology in Bergen on 27-28 May 2009. The agenda will focus on carbon capture and storage (CCS), a technology that could prove crucial if the world is to achieve necessary cuts in global greenhouse gas emissions. + 

05/05/2009 :: Nobel Laureate Al Gore and Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre will host a conference on melting ice in Tromsø. The aim is to produce a joint statement that can provide input for the climate conference in Copenhagen. + 

05/05/2009 :: Every year the UN marks the World Environment Day on 5 June, and one country is selected to host the main international events. This year Algeria is the host with desertification as the theme, while in 2007 it is Norway's turn with a somewhat cooler focus: the environmental impact on the Polar regions. + 

05/05/2009 :: Argentinean lawyer and human rights activist Romina Picolotti received the Sophie Prize in Oslo 15 June from Norwegian Minister of International Development Erik Solheim. She urged the world to take action to eliminate poverty and promote sustainable development. +
