Edvard Grieg’s birthday on June 15 is celebrated worldwide with an online gig for school children.
18/06/2007 :: The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation invites Norwegian schools in Norway and abroad to meet Grieg’s music and his personal history in an online concert.
Grieg’s music lives on and continues to take new turns. In the celebration of the composer’s birthday Grieg’s music is performed the modern way by young talents.
“Dovregubbens hall” is remixed by Einar Thorbjørnsen and accompanied by hip-hop dancers in the performance.
As the young musicians chose the web as their arena, the more established Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK) goes down. KORK celebrates the 164th anniversary of the internationally renowned composer by performing his music at three metro stops in Oslo.
The events are a part of the commemoration of the centenary of the composer’s death, which is marked around the world throughout the Grieg Anniversary of 2007.
