When can I see the midnight sun and the northern lights?
Midnight sun
The midnight sun can be seen north of the Polar Circle, and the further North you travel, the higher the sun will be on the horizon at midnight. Longyearbyen at Svalbard is of course the furthermost you can get as a regular tourist. On the mainland, the North Cape is a favourite goal, but the midnight sun can also be enjoyed in the cities further south, all the way to Bodø, during the following times:

The weather in Northern Norway can sometimes be quite dramatic and cause the midnight sun to disappear behind clouds and rainstorms. However, nighttime will still be just like daytime, and the landscape will be fascinating as ever.

The chance of seeing the northern lights, or aurora borealis, is best north of the Arctic Circle between November and February.

What am I allowed to bring with me entering Norway ?
Within the limit of NOK 6000 you are allowed to bring with you the following articles free of customs and excise duty:
1 of beverages with more than 22 up to and including 60 % alcohol per volume as well as 1 litre with more than 2,5 up to and including 22 % alcohol per volume or 2 litres with more than ,5 up to and including 22 % alcohol per volume.
2 litres of beer
200 cigarettes or 250 g tobacco products and 200 leaves of cigarette paper.
A total amount of 10 kg of meat and meat products, cheese and foodstuff exept dog and cat food...
Currency: When entering Norway you are allowed to bring with you Norwegian and foreign bank notes and coins at a total value of NOK 25.000. If the currency you are carrying exceeds this amount it has to be declared on a form available from the customs authorities. There is no limits on travellers` cheques.
